Makeup Tips for Redheads

We are talking about makeup tips for redheads today! Here are some tips for people with red/ginger hair! Sometimes having red hair makes makeup a challenge ...

Hi guys and welcome back to my channel! Today, I'm making a video that is very near and dear

to my heart. We are talking about makeup tips for redheads. So if you're a a redhead and you kind of want a simple overview of everything from eyebrows to blush to bronzers to foundations, then this is the video for you. Being a redhead can be incredibly hard and we only make up about 2% of the world. Many times makeup can be very hard for us to find. It can be hard to find shades that suit us nicely. I'm making this video for any redheads out there that are looking for some really good wholesome makeup tips. We're going to go over everything from eyeshadow to bronzer to blushes and I'm going to give you an overview of what works for me and hopefully what can work good for you. So redheads can basically be divvied up into three main base colors for our hair; and thats orange, auburn and basically plum. So you might need to tweak these tips a little bit because obviously not everybody is going to have my color hair and obviously I have highlights in my hair now, but you can see my natural base color its an auburn. So redheads tend to have thinner skin than everybody else and we definitely have sensitive skin, so first and foremost, we need to always remember to use an SPF. Right now I'm using the Glycolix suncreen broad spectrum. This is SPF30. I put this on underneath my foundation all the time. Let's talk about foundation first. Us redheads can have a really hard time finding shades that match us and so I'm going to give you guys a few options on what my favorite foundations are. For us redheads, I recommend something with light coverage that you can build up or going for light coverage and then using a bit of concealer to touch up any spots that you have. Now, I really want to stress for us redheads - don't cover up our freckles. They are absolutely beautiful! So I don't really have many freckles. I have a couple, but you know, there are redheads out there that have way more freckles than me; but let me talk about some of the foundations that I really like and that work well for me being a redhead with fairskin. I really love the Chantecaille Just Skin tinted moisturizer. This has an SPF in it on its own. It has SPF 15, but this goes on so nicely and it's not too cakey for us redheads. Another foundation I really like, and it's got nice build-able coverage - its the Supergood Daily Correct CC cream. It's got Omega 3's, Omega 6's and this has SPF 40, which is really nice! And this is basically like mineral makeup, its got mineral uv protection and I find this looks so natural on the skin. If you've watched my channel for any amount of time, if you watch any of my makeup videos, this will not be a surprise to you. I've gone through so

many tubes of this. It's the bare Minerals Complexion Rescue tinted hydrating gel cream, and this has SPF 30 in it too. I always go back to this because it settles really nicely on my skin - it doesn't exaggerate any of my pores and it's such a natural, beautiful coverage. I would recommend this for ANYBODY, even if you're not a redhead. This stuff is amazing and it's won awards, so I don't think you can go wrong with this. Now because us redheads have redhair, we tend to have a little bit more redness in our skin overall, and so sometimes it's nice to have a product that can counteract that redness and I'm going to show you something that I've been loving. If you're a redhead that has any redness and you want to counteract it, I love these Lancome Miracle CC Cushions. It's a correcting primer and it's in a lovely shade of purple, but don't let that scare you. You can use this and pat it over any red spots on your face and it'll help neutralize that so that way you don't have to go for anything extra heavy duty coverage just to try to get rid of that redness on your face. This stuff is awesome and usually what I'll do is go ahead and I'll put it right here, I'll put some right here and I'll put some on my forehead just to ....I don't really have a lot of redness, but just to counteract any redness and brighten the skin up, so I highly recommend this. These are a lot of fun to put on too for some reason. I really enjoy the application and using this....a lot of fun. Lets talk about, lets talk about some concealers that work really well for redheads. Yea, this is technically a full coverage concealer, but I really like it. Using a very light hand, this is a great concealer for if you have any spots or you want to cover up any dark spots underneath your eye area; it's the Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer. Man, this stuff is awesome. If you're one of those redheads that are really, really proud of your freckles - as you should be, and you don't want a concealer that will cover them up, because this definitely will do that, just take a q-tip with a little bit of water and kind of tab it on your freckles and just smooth it out. It will give you coverage, but not too heavy of a coverage where it's covering your entire face and making you basically look like a mannequin. This is another one - its the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aqua Concealer. I've talked about this in a video before. I sometimes actually use this as my foundation because its so...it's so light. You could use this to cover up and spots as well....or you could just do what I do and just use it basically as a foundation for you whole entire face. It's got a nice doe

foot applicator. It's perfect for using it on your whole entire face - look at that. Lets move on to blushes. I have heard so many times that redheads shouldn't wear blushes and that's completely untrue. You know, these are just tips and so you can wear whatever you want to wear. You know, there are no rules...whatever you like, just wear it! But if you're looking for some nice, just key essential tips on what works well for redheads, this is for you. The key to wearing blushes, if you're a redhead, is to find something that mimics your own natural flush and so that is why apricots, peach colors, coral-reds, they look the best on us. I'm going to show you 3 of my favorite blushes that I like to wear. Fittingly enough this color is actually called "Peaches." You will love this one, this one is lovingly actually called "Gingerly," and then this one is by Nars and it's called "Sex Appeal." These will give you a nice natural glow. I'm wearing Sex Appeal on my cheeks today. I do want to lay a little bit of caution because if you do go for something more on the pinker side, pinks can tend to lay on top of our skin instead of kind of melting in and looking natural, pinks tend to sit on top and it definitely looks like you're wearing blush, so that's something to think about too. Also, something else that tends to look great on us is blushes with a bit of a brown color. Let's move on to mascara. Okay, since us redheads tend to have really light to blonde eyelashes, mascara is a really nice thing to have to open the eyes up and help them pop. Now, this is even something that you can throw on if you're just leaving the house and you want to put on one thing to really draw attention to your face, I would say mascara is the way to go. Now, there is always an argument about what color mascara redheads should wear. Some people say brown, some people say black, but I tend to find that brown mascara can exaggerate and bring out any redness that we already have you know, in our skin, you know our freckles, our hair and so I would say that if you feel black mascara is just too much for you, then I would go in the middle of the road and you can always buy a mascara that's black brown mix. Now, personally, I love black mascara. I think that just the darkness, its beautiful and it makes our eyes pop. Now, let me show you two of my favorite mascaras that I love. It's the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara and I really love the, its the Make Up For Ever Excessive Lash. Both of these are just in black, in fact, I tend to even go for the blackest black so it just goes to show you that you don't have to listen to the rules. If you like black mascara then go with black

mascara. If you like brown mascara, then go with brown mascara, I mean they do say rules are meant to be broken, right? So eyebrows are another really important part of a redheads beauty routine. Filling them in can help frame the face and just make you look a little bit more put together. A lot of redheads tend have the same thing with the...as their eyelashes and having blonde eyebrows, which can come off as looking as you have no eyebrows. I as you can see, I have actually brown eyebrows. That's just how I was born. I have redhair and brown eyebrows, but if you have blonde eyebrows, don't even worry about it, with a little bit of help you can make those babies stand out and frame your eyes and your face. Now, I would recommend if you are..if you have blonde eyebrows, go for an eyeshadow or a brow color that's a shade or two lighter than your natural brows. Let me show you what I use. I really like the Benefit Precisely My Brows and I use the shade number 3. You can see that this has a really precise tip and us redheads can tend to have pretty course hair that's you know, different from everybody elses, so I recommend using something that's got like a precise tip so you can get in there and really lay the color down beneath your eyebrows. Another thing I like to do is grab an eyeshadow palette and grab an angled brush like so and then an eyeshadow palette, I'm using this one by Smashbox. it's photo matte eyes. And I will take, you know, and this just goes to show you how much you can really use different color eyeshadows for your eyebrows. Sometimes I'll take this color and sometimes I'll take this color and use it to fill in my eyebrows. Sometimes when I'm feeling extra fancy, I will even use an eyebrow gel just to kind of comb them up and make them stand out a little bit more. I like the Gimme Brow by Benefit. This is a really nice way to just comb through your brows really quickly. You know, you do not need to use an eyebrow pencil or an eyebrow tint that's auburn. You don't need to do that. You can get away with using taupes and browns. You know, this is another thing that people tell us redheads that we can't use and that's bronzer. That also is not true, but it can be really tricky for us redheads because certain bronzers can come off way too shimmery on our skin or they can come off as way too streaky. This is where you have to play it really safe and find a bronzer that works well with your skin tone. Let me show you a few that I like. A really pretty and affordable bronzer that I have found, it's the Rimmel Sculpting Palette by Kate Moss and I get the lightest shade. It's 001 Golden Sands. This is a great trio for

highlighting and using that contour as a bronzer. This will really warm up the face and it looks really great on us redheads. Another bronzer that I've been using its by RMS and its the Buriti Bronzer. This stuff is so natural and it really just looks like you're glowing. It looks like you have sun kissed skin; perfect for my fellow redheads. Let's talk about a couple of eyeliners that I love to wear on a daily basis. You know, typically for every day wear, I like to go for almost like a brown eyeliner, but when I do wear black eyeliner, this is what I like to wear. I like to wear the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on in Perversion and then let me show you two options, again, by Urban Decay, but these I'm just showing you kind of the brown colors that I work with. I like to wear a color called Roach and I also like to wear the color Whiskey. But basically for my eyeliner and every day wear, what I'll do is take an angled brush and I will take a brown eyeshadow color, like this, and I'll use that right on my water line after I apply mascara. I just think it looks the nicest on me. So if you are a redhead and you feel that using black eyeliners are too harsh for you, give this tip a try and go for something more on the browner side. Now lets talk about some of the best eyeshadows that look the great on redheads. For us redheads, greens, plums, browns, taupes, any earthy tones look fantastic on us - even golds. So I like to reach for palettes that kind of have everything for me, that way I'm not going to a bunch of different little eye pods... ha! That way I'm not going into a bunch of different little eyeshadows trying to find a bunch of different colors to bring together that'll work great for me. So a palette that I have been loving is this Too Faced peach palette. Once I show it to you, you'll see that it has bascially all of the colors that look the best on us. Look at those! Gorgeous and these are the types of colors that will just absolutely make our eyes pop! So if you're looking for kind of an all encompassing palette, I would say that definitely the Too Faced peach palette is a go for us and it smells absolutely amazing! Let's talk about liptick. So this is another one that people love to tell us redheads that we really can't wear or that we can only wear like one color...that's simply not true. I think that the trick with all lipstick colors and lipglosses and lipliners is to focus on the undertones. You know, if you're a redhead and you want to wear that nice red, bold lip, just make sure to find one with some blue under tones because finding one with red undertones its not going to mesh well with us because we already have too many red undertones, and

that goes with anything with nude lipsticks, pinks, berries...just make sure to find one with undertones that suit you and your skin well. If it takes 20 different shades of a nude color or a berry color to find one that suits you, then so be it. Once you find one that works well for you, you'll kind of know what colors to gravitate towards. So I'm going to show you what some of my favorite lipstick colors are and some lipsticks that I tend to gravitate to on a daily basis. Now let me show you a really affordable one that I pretty much wear every day. It's super easy to apply and it wears really nicely and it's nice and moisturizing. This is a NYX soft matte lip cream. This is in the color Canne. This is one of those nice, it's a mix between a red and a berry and when I wear it, which I wear it often, it's just a nice, natural pop of color. this is another one I really like and it is the Buxom Full on Lipstick and this is in the shade Sydney. It's one of those just really natural looking colors. Let me show you a nude that I like to wear. I'm actually wearing this on my lips today. This is a drugstore Soap & Glory Sexy Motherpucker Love & O'Beige. Let me show you some lipliners that I like. I've had this one forever and I actually even lost the cap. It is the Milani Berry Charming. This is what I used to line my lips with today. Another really affordable good drugstore product. I absolutely love berry colored lipstick on my lips, especially going in to the fall. I always get so many compliments whenever I wear anything berry colored, so even like a dress or a lipstick. I always get compliments so why would I not wear that just because the "rules" say I can't. That's ludicrous. This is like a berry nude color and its Too Faced Melted Matte in the color Queen B, you know, I've worn this in plenty of videos. This is a really cool product, the next one I'm going to show you. It's almost like a hybrid between a lipliner and then a full on lipstick. This is the Buxom Plump line lip liner and it's in the shade Dolly Danger. This is another hybrid between a pink and a berry color and a cool thing is that it actually comes with a little brush on the other end so you can kind of fade out your lip line. So that's just me showing you some of my favorite every day lip colors. Okay you guys, so I've covered all of the basics; foundation, blush, bronzer, eye liner, eyeshadow...I've given you a really nice "essentials" video for you to follow if you're a redhead who is looking for tips and pointers on what kinds of colors to wear. Let's be honest, we don't have a whole lot of help in that department because there aren't a whole lot of redheads.

So I really hope that this video helped any redheads out there who are looking for a good basic video on covering all the essentials for us redheads. You know, again, I can't stress it enough that these are just pointers, so if you want to break the rules, you know, wear whatever you want! But these are really good guidelines to follow if you're looking to get into makeup and looking to maybe branch out and try different colors, you know, these are stuff that works well for us. If you're redhead and this video helped you out at all, I would love it if you gave this video a like and hit the subscribe button on your way out and I will see you very soon in my next video.
